Ministry of Industry Ready to Support Development of PT Eran Teknikatama Electric Scooter

The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) continues to support efforts to accelerate the battery-based electric motor vehicle program for road transportation. Strategic collaboration between industries is needed in this regard, so that the use of domestic components in electric motor vehicles can reach a minimum target of 40 percent in 2019-2023.

"The development of electric motor vehicles is expected to involve Small and Medium Industries of automotive components located in production centers, such as in Jakarta, Bekasi, Karawang, Sukabumi, Tegal, Klaten, Purbalingga, Pasuruan, and Sidoarjo," said the Director General of IKMA, Ministry of Industry, Gati Wibawaningsih during a visit to the automotive component production factory owned by PT Eran Teknikatama in Bogor, Thursday (15/4/2021).

Since the end of 2020, PT Eran Teknikatama has started designing electric scooter products with the first prototype being a standing scooter, and a sitting scooter in further development. The scooter prototype has been tested on uphill and downhill roads.

Gati appreciates the innovation made by PT Eran Teknikatama which is adaptive to changes and market opportunities. "We hope that the electric scooter can be mass produced and it is also necessary to pay attention to its Intellectual Property Rights, as well as the product brand," said Gati.

According to Gati, collaboration between industries will accelerate the achievement of the national production target of battery-based electric motor vehicles.

"This collaboration will create a stronger and bigger market," said Gati.

The government will continue to support the development of industrial innovation to improve the competitiveness of national SMEs in the global arena. Some of the programs carried out by the Directorate General of SMEs include improving HR competencies, machine and equipment technology, product standardization, to market expansion and partnerships.

The government also continues to strive to accelerate the development and increase investment in the battery-based electric motor vehicle industry in the country so that the national production target of battery-based electric motor vehicles (KBLBB) in 2030 of 600 thousand units for four wheels or more, and 2.45 million units for two wheels can be achieved. The production of these electric motor vehicles will also reduce CO2 emissions by 2.7 million tons for four-wheeled vehicles and 1.1 million tons for two wheels.
